BRAVELY ONWARD TOWARDS FREEDOM
“Bravely Onward Therapy Services offers an inclusive, safe space where collaboratively, emotionally-focused relationships guide individuals through the process of unlearning, empowering them to uncover their truest selves, bravely write their own story, and confidently achieve whole-person wellness and freedom.”
What is Bravely Onward Therapy Services About?
Bravely Onward Therapy Services is committed to providing inclusive, compassionate, and whole-person mental health care grounded in the human experience. Using evidence-based practices and prioritizing a strong therapeutic alliance, we aim to create an environment where you can learn, grow, heal, and transform. As an anti-racist practice, we honor the many intersectional identities that make you who you are. We are affirming of and allied with the kink, non-monogamy, and queer communities, and bring extensive experience in supporting trans and gender non-conforming individuals.
While the “symptoms” you’re facing may be easily categorized within a medical model, my trauma-informed approach understands your thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations as signals—your body’s way of letting you know something needs attention. Together, we will explore these experiences and examine the societal and cultural “norms” that may no longer serve you, especially those that can obscure your connection with your most authentic self.
Your autonomy is central to our work. Even if you feel stuck or unsure of your path, you hold the insight needed to guide your care and make decisions that support your well-being. Your goals and needs are uniquely yours, and you deserve an approach tailored with intention, compassion, and deep respect!
Who is the Founder?
Katie Musso is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and Substance Use Disorder Professional Trainee (SUDPT) and is currently training to be a Clinical Supervisor. She is also a mom to six, a grandmother to a toddler, and the partner of a disabled Iraq veteran—roles that deeply shape the way she moves through the world and shows up for others. A true lover of nature, Katie is most at home on a hiking trail, gathered around a campfire, barefoot in her garden, perched on a mountain summit, reading in a hammock, dancing and singing under the sun, running at dawn, or paddling a kayak across the water.
Three core beliefs guide both her clinical work and her personal life:
Most people walk through the world not feeling loved enough.
Relationships can wound us deeply, yet they also hold the greatest potential for healing.
Humans learn to navigate life in ways that protect them from the rejection they fear most.
Katie understands each person as uniquely shaped by their experiences, and she views the therapeutic relationship as a powerful space where a collaborative, authentic connection can become a model for the healthy, nurturing relationships everyone deserves. Through this work, healing from attachment wounds becomes possible, and the fear of rejection can soften into a sense of inner peace. Openness, curiosity, and love are the foundation of how she lives, relates, and enters the therapeutic space, grounded in the belief that attachment and emotions are at the heart of both pain and healing.
“Bravely Onward” is more than the name of Katie’s practice—it's tattooed on her arm and has become her work and life’s motto. During the collective grief of the COVID era, after losing two close family members and questioning how to keep moving forward, she saw those words on a billboard along an Oklahoma freeway. They became a beacon in the darkness, a reminder that we can unlearn, decondition, and bravely rewrite our stories to create lives rooted in gratitude, presence, and freedom.
Katie’s professional experience includes working at a nonprofit serving survivors of intimate partner violence, serving as a program therapist in an inpatient psychiatric hospital, and practicing in group therapy settings. These roles have provided her with extensive experience supporting marginalized communities. The queer community—especially trans individuals—is woven throughout her family, friendships, and client base. Many find that the therapeutic relationship with Katie offers a safe space to explore parts of themselves they’ve long avoided, uncover deeper truths, and do so with compassion, care, and respect.
Above all, Katie holds deep gratitude for the honor of walking alongside another human on the challenging, transformative path toward whole-person wellness. She looks forward to the possibility of connecting with you!

Services Offered
Coping skills are essential for getting through life’s challenges—they help us process past trauma, handle the stress of today, and ease worries about the future. They also help calm our nervous system, so we can stay present, focused, and more connected to the moment. We’ll spend a lot of time exploring and practicing these skills together, so you can feel more grounded and confident in everyday life.
Substance use therapy is offered through a harm-reduction approach, supporting you in changing your relationship with addictive substances. Together, we’ll explore strategies that align with your goals—whether that’s safer, more responsible use or working toward recovery.
Couples therapy can be challenging, but at Bravely Onward Therapy Services, we draw on a mix of the modalities previously mentioned to create a therapy experience that supports both you as an individual and your relationship as a whole. Together, we’ll build a safe and collaborative space to navigate challenges, strengthen connection, and foster growth.
Psychoeducation is one of the most powerful tools in therapy because it helps you understand what’s happening in your mind, body, and emotions. Learning about your patterns, triggers, and responses can bring clarity, reduce self-blame, and help you see that your reactions are understandable.
When you understand how your brain, emotions, and nervous system work, you gain insight and tools to make intentional choices, respond differently to challenges, and practice healthier coping strategies. Psychoeducation empowers you to take an active role in your own healing, giving you the knowledge and confidence to navigate life’s challenges with greater awareness and ease.
Your therapist is here to support you in many ways, including providing letters for gender-affirming care or emotional support animals. These letters can help you access important services, affirm your identity, and ensure your needs are recognized and respected. Beyond paperwork, your therapist is a partner in your journey—offering guidance, validation, and advocacy as you navigate systems, make important decisions, and work toward your overall well-being. Every step of the way, the focus is on supporting you with care, respect, and understanding.
